Sir Michael BradySir Michael Brady Member Advisory Board Professor Sir Mike Brady is currently BP professor of Information Engineering at the University of Oxford, where he has established the Robotics Research Laboratory and the Medical Vision Laboratory. The latter has a focus on medical image analysis and minimally invasive surgery. He is a fellow of a number of engineering and scientific bodies including the Royal Society and the Royal Academy of Engineers as well as honorary professor at several other universities. In 2000 he was awarded the Faraday Medal and the Third Millennium Medal of the IEEE. Professor Brady is a Non-Executive Director of a number of companies in the medical and engineering sector, including Oxford Instruments where he is Deputy Chairman (one of the UK's leading scientific instruments companies, Ixico (a start up business aiming to provide software solutions for the pharmaceutical industry), and ISIS Innovation (Oxford University's intellectual property company). He co-founded Mirada, a medical imaging software company, which was acquired by CTI in 2003 and has now become Siemens Molecular Imaging Advanced Applications.
David GavaghanDavid Gavaghan Chief Scientist David is the director of the Life Sciences Interface Doctoral Training Centre, Principal Investigator of the Integrative Biology project and Research Fellow in Mathematics at New College at the University of Oxford. He leads the Computational Biology Group based primarily within the Computing Laboratory, University of Oxford. David leads several research and industrial collaborations with Fujitsu, GE Healthcare, IBM, Microsoft, Siemens, EPSRC, BBSRC, MRC, NCRI and DTI. David Gavaghan received his undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Durham University, an MSc in Numerical Analysis and Mathematical Modelling, and a Doctorate in the Development of Parallel Numerical Algorithms from the University of Oxford.
Tahir MansooriTahir Mansoori Founder and CEO Tahir holds a BS in Computer Science, a Masters in Information Management and currently reading for a Doctorate in Computational Biology at the University of Oxford. He is a Microsoft European PhD Scholar. Tahir's research interests include distributed computing, computational systems, cardiac simulations, complex visualization and medical image processing.
Dr Simon BennettDr Simon Bennett Chief Business Officer Dr Simon Bennett holds an Oxford D.Phil in plant genetics, and has over 15 years experience with start-ups. Simon held various senior management positions including business development director roles at Solexa Ltd, a public company pioneering novel systems for genomics, and Oxagen, where he developed the commercial strategy for the Women's Health Programme. Simon was VP Business Development of Glide Pharma and Business Development Director at MedPharm Ltd. Dr Bennett was a Wellcome Trust Research Fellow at Wellcome Trust Centre or Human Genetics, University of Oxford.
Dr Matthew BakerDr Matthew Baker Community Relations Manager Matt is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Chemistry Department at the University of Oxford investigating the twin-arginine-transporter using single-molecule fluorescence techniques. Dr Baker holds a D.Phil on the temperature control of the bacterial flagellar motor from the Physics department of the University of Oxford and did his undergraduate Honours degree in mathematics and physical chemistry at the Australian National University in Canberra, Australia. Dr Baker is actively involved in science communication in the UK, having spoken at the Cheltenham, Cambridge and Brighton Science Festivals, as well as mixing science and poetry at the Green Man Festival, Wales, Geek Pop Festival, Bristol, and the Festival of the Spoken Nerd, London.
